dc.description.abstractThis study examined the meaning of cooperative societies, types, formation, roles played by cooperative societies in the economic development of Nigeria, the problems faced by cooperatives and their prospects, brief history of how cooperative societies began and concluded by stating how government could be of help to the cooperative societies in Nigeria.
