Abstract
The main focus of the study is to explore and investigate how product packaging could be a determinant of value in the Food and Beverages markets in Lagos State of Nigeria. The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. 2374 consumers of packaged food products across the entire 20 local government areas of the state were proportionally sampled. Questionnaire was the main instrument of data collection, rated on a 6 – point Likert scale. Data were analysed using the descriptive statistical techniques of Pearson Product Moment correlation (r) and Simple Regression Analysis. The findings revealed that product package has significant effect on consumer value perception of a brand (p < 0.05, r = 0.262; 0.194; 0.352; 0.283; 0.401) and that packaging value perception is caused by functional and quality attributes of products. It was therefore suggested that manufacturing companies should establish close relationships with their customers and incorporate them into the value chain.
